Walk across the Sleeping Woman.

A high-difficulty summit for travelers with excellent fitness and previous acclimatization. The classic Los Portillos and Arista del Sol route combines steep scree, rocky ridges, wind and a long day at altitude with exceptional views of Popocatépetl.

    Departure from Mexico City

    Meet at Parque México in Condesa and transfer through Amecameca toward Paso de Cortés.

  2. Saturday · 9:00 AM–1:00 PM

    La Joya and acclimatization

    Arrival, camp setup, acclimatization hike and lunch.

  3. Saturday · 3:00–6:00 PM

    Technical session and rest

    Gear briefing, dinner and an early rest.

  4. Sunday · 12:00 AM

    Ascent begins

    Night departure toward Los Portillos, Rodillas and the upper mountain.

  5. Sunday · 8:00 AM

    Summit window

    Progress depends on weather, pace, altitude and guide safety decisions.

  6. Sunday · 2:00–8:00 PM

    Descent and return

    Return to La Joya, camp breakdown and transfer to Mexico City.
